Loosing your molar in early 30s could frustrate many ladies like me. Yes, I extracted my broken molar last month on my dentist's advice. Now, I must decide between the dental bridge and dental implant. First of all, if I talk about a dental bridge, it is a less expensive and less painful procedure where your dental surgeon places a 3-unit bridge to replace the missing tooth.
Some of the benefits of using dental bridges are:
- Bridge doesn't need bone grafting or major surgery
- With no downtime, this procedure usually takes 2 sittings
- It is typically covered by insurance, and its cost is lower than a dental implant
On the flip side, one major drawback of dental bridges, particularly for me, is that I'd have to file down two healthy molars to accommodate the bridge. I don't like this idea at my age. In contrast, my second option, a dental implant, appears more reliable. Hereof, I got all the detailed information about dental implants from here and found that if I can bear the cost and proceed with a lengthy procedure, I must go with it.
Here are some benefits of dental implants:
- Dental implants are long lasting, usually last over 15 years
- They don't hurt the neighbouring teeth
- With 97% success rate, implants give you a more natural experience
All in all, I am damn confused between these two options. Although I have a damn inclination towards dental implant but it is not covered in my insurance. So, it will cost me more.
What are your thoughts and suggestions on it?
