Listvyanka is a lakeside village where many journeys to Baikal begin, because it lies close to the lake's outflow and is easy to reach. Here you can walk along the embankment, visit the museum devoted to the lake's nature and its unique inhabitants, and watch the freshwater seal in the aquarium. A cable chair lift takes visitors to a viewpoint above the water, and the local market offers smoked fish and handmade souvenirs. One-day programmes of seven to eight hours suit people with limited time, while longer stays allow quiet walks to the nearby bays. Listvyanka works well for first visits, for families with children and for guests who prefer short transfers. Even a short visit leaves time for photographs, a snack by the water and a few unhurried minutes on the pebble beach. If you find it hard to arrange the day in a short time, BaikalMajestic can help: the company provides trips to Listvyanka for guests with different interests.
