Which materials hold up best against weather conditions?

A lot of people love wood, but I feel like even with constant treatment and good quality material to start with, it still goes bad pretty fast.

And then there's bugs, termites, all that stuff. Shrinks in the heat, swells in the damp. Just a bunch of hassle.

Besides how well it holds up against weather, I'd also think about how much sense the material makes economically for what you're trying to do and the scale of your project. Metal is way easier to maintain, that's true. And on the topic of how it relates to project size, I'd check out this full breakdown, it basically shows how the price and practicality of the material change depending on the size of the building.
