Dermatology

What is the typical configuration of lesions found in erythema multiforme?
A. Serpiginous grouping
B. Dermatomal grouping
C. Linear grouping
D. Retiform grouping
E. Iris grouping
Erythema multiforme typically appears in an iris grouping (bull's eye), though it can also be annular (circular).

Many skin lesions are grouped in specific patterns. Lymphangitis and poison ivy are typically in linear groups, but poison ivy can also be irregular. Erythema ab igne, livedo reticularis, and X-ray dermatitis have a retiform (or network-like) grouping. Herpes zoster lesions follow dermatomal patterns. The nodular lesions of late syphilis form a serpiginous grouping.
