What’s the Hardest Part of Designing Game Characters?
I’ve been sketching concepts for my first indie game, and I didn’t realize how tough character design could be. It’s not just about making them look cool, it’s about making sure they fit the world, feel unique, and are easy enough to animate later. For those who’ve been through this process, what do you think is the hardest part of designing characters for games?

It’s consistency. When you’re designing multiple characters, it’s really easy for one of them to look like they belong in a different game entirely. Keeping the proportions, colors, and overall “vibe” aligned takes more discipline than I expected. I started building a style guide for my project and that helped a ton, it’s like a cheat sheet that keeps me from drifting too far off the original concept.
