How to Shoot Music Videos & Live Performances? Need Equipmen
Hey musicians and videographers!
I’m a musician looking to start shooting high-quality videos of my performances and music clips, but I’m unsure about the right equipment to begin with. My budget is around 1000.
1. Camera for Live Performances
Dark club venues vs. sunny outdoor stages – I need a versatile camera:
Sony ZV-E10 (good in low light)
Panasonic GH5 (great stabilization & 4K)
Canon R50 (budget-friendly)
I found this great camera comparison on CrftVideo, but I’d love to hear from fellow musicians – what actually works in real-life gig conditions?
2. Syncing Audio & Video
Record audio separately (audio interface + camera)
Use an external recorder (Zoom H4n Pro)
Sync with a clean track in post-production
The VideoHunter guide recommends dual recording, but how does this work technically?
3. Editing Music Videos
Best software for syncing? (Premiere Pro vs. DaVinci Resolve)
Do I need special plugins for concert lighting color grading?
How to add retro VHS-style effects?
Biggest issue: When I film with my phone, the audio always clips from loud drums.
Questions:
What’s the minimum essential gear to start?
How to properly film a performance in a dimly lit club?
Are there any good all-in-one camera+mic solutions for musicians?
Sorry if this is slightly off-topic!make_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, ' ', 'https://crftvideo.com/', '', ' class="postlink"') andmake_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, ' ', 'https://videohunter.pro/', '', ' class="postlink"') provide great technical insights, but I need more music-specific advice.
