Where do you check a VIN if you’re buying from Facebook Mark
I found a used Jeep Wrangler posted on Facebook Marketplace for a decent price. Seller seems honest and says the car is clean title. He gave me the VIN when I asked, but I don’t really know where to check it properly. Google brings up dozens of random VIN check sites, and I’m not sure which ones are legit. Has anyone here actually used a reliable one that shows the full car history? I’d rather not waste time or get scammed.

I bought my GMC Yukon through Marketplace too, and yeah, tons of shady listings there. The only site that gave me the full breakdown was carfax usa. The free ones only showed stuff like engine specs or the model’s recalls, but CARFAX gave me registration history, service records, and even the emission test logs. It revealed that the car had been registered in three different states, which helped me understand why the mileage was inconsistent. Also, flagged it as a previous fleet vehicle, which the seller “forgot” to mention. The report helped me back out of a bad deal. You just go to their site, pop in the VIN, and pay — simple and worth it.

Wow, didn’t expect them to hide stuff like that. I’ll go ahead and use carfax usa just to be safe. Thanks for sharing that — definitely feels riskier buying through Marketplace.
