I know that in some countries the use of narcotic substances in certain doses for medical purposes is allowed and this has good consequences. But what about the Dominican Republic, what are the rules there?

Re: What about Medical Marijuana?
I have read that some studies indicate that components of cannabis may have anti-inflammatory effects, which may be beneficial for patients with diseases related to inflammation. Also, some types of epilepsy can be better controlled with special cannabis products that are low in THC and high in CBD. However, the question if still remains open. While some people in the country are pushing for reform of the policy towards medical marijuana, there are currently no plans to change the controlled status of these products.

Re: What about Medical Marijuana?
Many people both in and outside of the Dominican Republic believe that the country’s current marijuana laws are outdated and in need of reform. At this point, it remains to be seen whether the Dominican Republic will change its laws on marijuana anytime soon. However, as more and more countries around the world move towards legalization, it is possible that the remainder of the Caribbean will follow suit.
