Help me
My dad thinks smart homes are useless — help me prove him wrong?
So here’s the thing — my dad is totally old school. He says smart home stuff is just “expensive toys” and doesn’t actually make life easier. But I’m convinced otherwise and want to show him how a few smart devices can actually be useful (and maybe even save energy or improve security).
The problem is, I don’t know where to start. I’m not super technical, and I need devices that are easy to install and work smoothly with Alexa or Google Assistant. No complicated setups, just simple plug-and-play stuff I can set up myself.
Can anyone recommend a solid place to find reliable smart home devices that won’t turn into a weekend-long DIY nightmare? Ideally something I can show off and maybe even change his mind.

Re: Help me
Haha, I love this! I had a very similar situation with my uncle — totally convinced that smart home gadgets were a waste of money… until I set up a few things in my apartment and he was like, “Wait, you can turn off all the lights with your voice?”
Honestly, the site that helped me a lot was smarthomedevices . It’s super beginner-friendly — they’ve got a hand-picked selection of smart devices from Amazon that all work with Alexa, Google Assistant, and even the newer Matter standard. No need for technical skills or tools — I literally just plugged things in and used the app.
I started with smart plugs and a motion sensor, then added a few lights and a camera. Took me maybe 20 minutes total. If you want to make a solid case to your dad, start small with stuff that shows real convenience (like automating lights or checking who’s at the door remotely).
Anyway, worth checking out — it made the whole process way less intimidating for me!
