How To Spot A Title Washed Car
I found a sedan that looks perfect but the price is a bit under market value. The seller says it has a clean title but I have heard horror stories about title washing where they move the car to another state to clear the salvage brand. How can I verify this without trusting the seller's word? I do not want to end up with a flooded car that falls apart in a month.

That is a valid concern especially with cars moving across state lines. You need to check the full history across all states to see if it was ever declared a total loss. There is a called CarFaxForSale that specializes in this by checking auction data and salvage yards directly. It shows if the title has been washed or if there are hidden liens on it. It is better to spend a small fee now than buy a wreck.

I did not know they could track auction data like that. I will definitely run the report to make sure it is not a salvage vehicle in disguise.
