Identifying Total Loss Vehicles
I am seeing a lot of cars listed as "rebuilt" or having a "clean title" despite being in major accidents. I don't want to accidentally buy a car that was declared a total loss by an insurance company. How can I tell if a car was previously written off if the seller managed to wash the title?

Re: Identifying Total Loss Vehicles
Title washing is a real problem, especially with cars moving between states. A paper title might look clean, but the insurance database never forgets a total loss. You need to see the salvage history directly from the source. You can about how to spot these total loss indicators in the history report. It helps you avoid buying a car that isn't safe to drive.
