How much yield can I expect from specific part of the field

by slev1111n » Fri May 02, 2025 1:53 pm

I’ve always wondered if there’s a way to actually predict this kind of stuff, like make forecasts and all that. Not talking about surprise stuff like a sudden frost wiping everything out. But like, when the weather’s normal for the season, is it possible to tell how big the harvest will be?

I’m guessing for agronomists this is basic info. They probably have parameters and formulas for calculating it. I’m no expert so I have no clue how it works, but it’s pretty obvious they’re not just crossing their fingers and saying “We’ll see what happens.”

Yeah, makes sense. I think it used to be really hard to guess how good the harvest season would be, and you could only make a guess based on past experience and the usual seasonal weather. Now there’s satellite monitoring like on this website, and with the pictures and data from it, I’m sure agronomists have a much easier time controlling crop yield and quality.
