Why you should choose home care services

by Noah123 » Thu May 08, 2025 7:47 pm

Hi, everyone. I want to ask you: why do you think it's better to choose home care over, say, a nursing home? Just ran into this recently. My grandmother began to have problems with movement, and my family and I thought for a long time what to do. The option of a boarding school did not fit - she was immediately categorically opposed. In the end, we hired a caregiver at home, and, frankly speaking, we did not regret it. The care became qualitative, and the grandmother remained in a familiar environment. Has anyone encountered anything like this?

Yeah, we had a similar story too. I'm not from the US myself, but when I moved here, my aunt started having problems after her stroke. She lives in Pennsylvania and we didn't know where to turn for a long time. Nursing homes are expensive and she didn't want to go there herself. We started looking for options and finally found a great service called carepoint home care. They were very helpful - a nurse came, helped with daily activities, gave her medication, and all this at home. For my aunt it was the perfect home care option: family close by and help available. Now I think that home care is the most humane approach in such situations.

This was interesting to read, thanks for your stories. I've never seriously considered this topic, but it seems to be more relevant than it seems. It seems like a simple solution - home care, and how much of a difference it can make in an elderly person's quality of life. I will have to learn more about it, in case this situation ever arises in my family.
