Put an ultimak on my AK — long-term use thoughts

Been running an ultimak mount on my AK for over a year now, figured I'd share some thoughts for anyone still deciding. I went with the classic gas tube replacement style, which honestly makes a lot of sense once you get into the install. Took me maybe 30 minutes and a couple YouTube videos — no gunsmithing needed. What surprised me most is how rock solid it is. After hundreds of rounds and multiple range trips, it hasn’t budged. Holds zero perfectly, and I use a compact red dot up front which sits nice and low, so co-witness with iron sights is smooth. Another underrated thing — it doesn’t get in the way when stripping the rifle for cleaning, which some mounts definitely do. I’ve banged the gun around, tossed it in the trunk, and dragged it through some rough terrain — no shifting, no loosening. Ultimak really nailed the “low-profile and tough” combo here. It’s light, functional, and doesn’t mess with the balance of the rifle. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a no-fuss way to mount optics on their AK.
