Did any of you immediately realize it was type 1 diabetes?

Did any of you immediately realize it was type 1 diabetes? When I first started having symptoms, I thought it was just stress and fatigue. Constant thirst, fatigue, trips to the bathroom at night - it all seemed explainable. But then it got really bad, and only then was the diagnosis made. Has anyone had a similar story? I wonder if it could have been recognized earlier.

For me, it all started with fatigue, and the doctor initially said it was anemia. I think if someone had mentioned diabetes back then, I would have taken it differently. How did your examination go - did it take a long time?

My brother also has diabetes, but I've been cleared. So, I remember when he was a kid, he was always thirsty - a bottle of water at a time, and immediately asked to go to the toilet. His parents chalked it up to the summer heat. Then they noticed that he became cranky, sleepy, even at night sometimes urinated, although it had not happened for a long time before. His parents took him to the pediatrician, and he immediately gave a referral for a sugar test. The results were: type 1 diabetes. These first symptoms - thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, lethargy - cannot be ignored. In children, it can develop rapidly.
