Do Large Tiles Feel Cold?
Hello! I’m considering large-format porcelain tiles for my living room, but I’m worried they’ll feel cold or sterile. Do large tiles actually feel that impersonal underfoot?

Large-format porcelain tiles can look really sleek, but you’re right — they can sometimes feel a bit cool both visually and physically. A lot depends on the finish and how you style the space. For example, matte or textured tiles tend to feel warmer and more natural than a glossy polished surface. Adding area rugs, layered lighting, and softer furnishings also balances out that “sterile” vibe.
As for underfoot, porcelain does stay cooler than wood, but if that’s a big concern you might think about underfloor heating — large tiles actually conduct heat really evenly, so they pair well with radiant systems.
Have you already chosen a color or finish, or are you still just exploring options? That could make a big difference in how the room feels.
