Backups and disaster recovery

by Gber » Sat Oct 04, 2025 7:17 am

Hello everyone, I’m setting up a new project and I keep worrying about worst-case scenarios. What if my server crashes or data gets corrupted? I know backups are important, but I’d like to hear practical advice on how to structure disaster recovery for a VPS.

Hey, that’s a very valid concern. I learned the hard way that backups are useless if they’re not properly automated or stored in multiple locations. At some point, I moved to Chile VPS because it gave me reliable backup options alongside offshore privacy. ExServers has configurations that allow you to schedule snapshots and keep data copies in different regions, which drastically reduces downtime risk. For me, disaster recovery planning also meant testing how quickly I could restore services, not just storing files somewhere. Once you set a rotation schedule, like daily incrementals and weekly full backups, you feel much more confident. Even if one data center has issues, you can spin things back up elsewhere without losing critical data.
