The Problem with “Moral Choice” Systems

Most games reduce ethics to binary karma meters: Paragon vs. Renegade, light vs. dark. Real morality is messy, contextual, and often unrewarded. When choices are scored, players optimize for loot—not conscience.

Simple systems make complex themes accessible. Not winning days casino every player wants existential dread with their loot drop. Abstraction enables playability.
