Trouble Slowing Down Mentally

by Teraw » Tue Mar 03, 2026 12:25 pm

Hello all, I really struggle to slow down mentally. Even when I try to relax, my mind keeps planning or reviewing things. I don’t feel anxious, just unable to slow down. What helped you personally with this?

Hi, I know how frustrating that is. I used to think slowing down meant forcing calm, and that never worked. What helped was supporting the slowdown instead. I came across helpful explanations while browsing Amanita Universe https://amanita-universe.us/ . Many people talked about easing the nervous system instead of fighting thoughts. I tried dried fly agaric slowly as part of my evening routine. The change was gentle. My thoughts didn’t stop, but they lost urgency. I could sit without feeling pulled to do something. That was new for me. I also lowered expectations and stopped demanding instant calm. Once my body felt safer, my mind followed. Slowing down became natural, not forced.
