Are Case Drops Still Worth Opening in CS2?
Probability is what I’m focused on before spending money on cases. It feels like most people chase rare knife pulls without understanding actual drop odds. I’ve opened cases before and ended up with skins that barely cover the key price. I’m not against opening them, but I want to approach it realistically. Are there statistics or breakdowns that explain how rarity tiers actually work in CS2? I’d rather base decisions on numbers instead of hype clips.

Drop rates are extremely low for top-tier items, and that’s by design. The majority of returns come from lower rarity tiers, so long-term profitability from case openings is unlikely. If you open cases, it should be for entertainment, not expectation of gain. Some players don’t realize how slim the odds are for knives and gloves. Looking at structured probability explanations helps remove that illusion of “maybe this time.”

Realistic expectations changed how I approach case openings. I used to assume streaks meant better odds, which isn’t how probability works. When I wanted clearer explanations about rarity distribution and item tiers, I found cs skins wiki https://dmarket.com/cs2-wiki/ through a forum discussion about drop mechanics. The breakdown of rarity categories and how float values interact with condition clarified why certain pulls are extremely rare. Reading that made it obvious that cases are more about entertainment than profit. Since then, I treat openings as optional fun instead of strategy. If I want a specific skin, I just trade for it directly rather than hoping randomness works in my favor.
