Do Medicaid/Medicare require prior auth for fat removal?

Can I get my Medicare to pay for my tummy tuck if I say it's a medical necessity because I can't fit into my crop tops anymore?

Prior authorization may be required for certain fat removal procedures under Medicaid/Medicare. Prior authorization is a process where healthcare providers must obtain approval from the insurance plan before performing a specific procedure. It helps ensure that the procedure meets the necessary criteria for coverage.

For Medicaid and Medicare, prior authorization is often necessary for certain treatments and surgeries, including fat removal procedures. Individuals should check with their specific Medicaid/Medicare plan or healthcare provider to determine if prior authorization is required for the specific fat removal procedure they are considering. Failure to obtain prior authorization may result in non-coverage or higher out-of-pocket costs.
