Do sanctioned companies contribute to the economy?

by Met Certos » Sat Mar 23, 2024 12:26 pm

Hi all. Considering what is happening in Russia, I would like to ask a question about the position of companies still operating there. Can they contribute to the economy and influence change from within? Could a complete exit from Russia have serious economic consequences for the companies and for the Russians who need their services?

Hey there! For corporations with interests in Russia, the decision to continue doing business under sanctions has created many problems. On the one hand, there were legal and reputational risks associated with violation of sanctions, since companies remaining in russia actually support the aggressor. On the other hand, a complete exit from the Russian market could lead to significant financial losses. Many responsible companies have left the Russian market, but there are also those that have remained.
