Preventing HVAC Breakdowns

by Teraw » Mon Jan 13, 2025 11:05 pm

So, my HVAC system is starting to show signs of age, and I’m worried about it breaking down in the middle of a heatwave or freezing cold. I’m thinking about doing some preventative maintenance to keep it running smoothly, but I’m not really sure where to start. Any advice on things I should be checking or doing regularly to avoid a breakdown?

It’s great that you’re thinking ahead! Regular maintenance can go a long way in preventing unexpected breakdowns. Start by changing the filters every couple of months, keeping the area around the unit clean, and checking the thermostat settings. One thing I did last year was to have a professional inspect the system. I called Astera Services at https://www.asteraservice.com/ , and they offer excellent appliance and HVAC installing and repairing services. They came out and did a full check-up on my system, cleaned the coils, and made sure everything was in top shape. Since then, I haven’t had any issues, and it’s been running much more efficiently. Definitely recommend it if you want peace of mind!
