Will a proxy work for geo-restricted resources?
Will a proxy work for geo-restricted resources or is it better to use a VPN?
Honestly, I have no clue. I’ve got a site that’s blocked, but I need to work with it. Tried to figure out what’s better, but both seem to solve the same issues.

Well, not exactly, they work similarly but not the same, so you do need to understand what you need and why. If you’re working with different geo-resources and not just using a browser, but also other apps, then a VPN is better since it gives you system-wide access. If you’re just using a browser and need access to a specific location’s resources, a proxy does the job just fine.

For my work, proxies are super convenient to use. The situation’s just like you described. I need access to Canadian websites and resources, so FloppyData’s Canadian proxies https://floppydata.com/location/canada-proxy/ with solid pricing plans work great for what I need. It runs stable, no issues which is what I want. For geo-restricted resources, it’s a good option too.
