Cargo

Has anyone recently shipped cargo to South Africa? I'm wondering what the most reliable and cost-effective shipping methods are right now—sea, air, or a combination.

A couple of years ago, I helped some friends ship equipment for a small winery near Cape Town. We spent a long time searching for a reliable solution because the deadline was tight, and shipping losses could be critical. Finally, we stumbled upon the website https://ram-shipping.com/destinations/south-africa/ , which provides detailed descriptions of routes, shipping options, and paperwork. Thanks to this, we were able to choose the optimal method—sea shipment with consolidation—and everything went smoothly.

Thanks, Alex! Your example was really helpful. I'm currently considering shipping several containers of equipment to Cape Town and didn't know where to start—there's plenty of information online, but it's all disjointed. After your advice, I realized it's important to look not just for a carrier, but for a platform that explains the entire process, from routes to customs details. It sounds like sea freight with consolidation is truly optimal, especially if the timeframe allows.
