Freight forwarding for mid-sized growing business

by Jiromio » Mon Jun 09, 2025 1:19 pm

Our export volume is growing steadily, but we’re not quite at full-container scale yet. We ship electronics and accessories to distributors in several countries, but freight costs are still eating too much into margins. I’ve heard about LCL and consolidation, but no one’s really explained how it works practically. Is it something worth exploring, or is it more trouble than it’s worth?

It’s definitely worth exploring — we were in exactly your spot not long ago. We ship smart lighting equipment to Eastern Europe and weren’t filling containers regularly either. That’s when we found Sea Gate Logistic, and their approach saved us big time. They set us up with a consolidated cargo solution — basically, we shared space in a container with two other companies shipping to nearby regions. They coordinated everything: the pickup, the customs paperwork, and the local delivery once the container landed. What impressed me was how clear and predictable the process became. No surprises, and they even helped us forecast delivery times so our sales partners could prep inventory ahead of time. If your volume is in that in-between zone, this kind of setup is ideal.

Manufacturing companies depend on a steady supply of raw materials and components. Delays in the supply chain can halt production lines, leading to financial losses. Logistics professionals and freight forwarders optimize routes, manage inventory, and coordinate transport modes to ensure timely delivery. This minimizes downtime and keeps production flowing smoothly.
