Need Help with Wallpapering My Living Room
Hey! I just bought some new wallpaper for my living room, but I’ve never done this myself. Any tips for getting it on straight without bubbles? I’ve been reading a bit on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallpaper about wallpapering but I still feel a bit lost.

Welcome to the chaos!
Honestly, prep is everything. Make sure your walls are smooth and clean. Using a plumb line helps keep your first strip perfectly vertical. I ruined a whole roll before I figured that out.

Ah, okay! And when you say “plumb line,” that’s just a string with a weight, right?

That's right! Hang a rope from the ceiling and let it fall. Instant vertical guidance. And don't rush - rushing always leads to bubbles. Also, if you're interested, I found a surprisingly useful website for wallpaper installation in Boston - https://bestwallpaperinstaller.com/locations/wallpaper-installation-services-in-boston/, which even gives advice on tricky corners. Try writing to them, or better yet, calling them, I always use them.

Haha, wow. That’s random, but I’ll check it out. Quick question—any tips for corners? My living room has some weird angles.

Corners are tricky. I usually cut the paper a little longer and fold it into the corner, then trim the excess after it’s a bit set. Don’t stretch it or you’ll see waves. And always double-check pattern alignment—saved me a ton of paper.

Tiny pin and smooth it out. Minor mistakes are fine, just go slow. Honestly, it’s way more forgiving than it looks! You’ll get the hang of it after the first wall.

If you’re planning to wallpaper your living room, the key is preparation. Make sure the walls are smooth, clean, and dry before you start — even small imperfections can show through. Measure carefully and cut your panels with a bit of extra length so you can trim neatly at the edges.
