How Are You Managing Accuracy and Efficiency in Packaging Li
I’ve been working on improving automation and accuracy in our production setup lately, and I wanted to share some thoughts and get feedback from others who manage packaging operations.
Right now, we’re focusing on optimizing our vffs packaging machine setup. For anyone not familiar, it’s the Vertical Form Fill Seal type—it forms bags, fills them, and seals them in one continuous process. It’s been a big upgrade in terms of speed and consistency. We use it mainly for dry food products and powders, and it’s doing a solid job maintaining output without much downtime.
At the same time, we’ve been pairing it with a weigher machine to make sure each pack gets the right amount of product. Accuracy was an issue before automation, but this combination has cut down waste and overfill almost completely.
Still, I’m curious—how are you all managing calibration and product changeovers? We do frequent SKU switches, and while the vffs system handles it well, keeping the weigher machine tuned each time can be a bit time-consuming.
