I’m scared that online therapy will feel cold and impersonal
I’ve never done therapy or psychiatry online before. Everyone says telehealth is “convenient,” but I’m worried it’ll feel distant, rushed, or like I’m just talking to a screen. Will I really feel understood and supported, or is it going to be another disappointing experience?

I had the exact same fear, word for word. I thought “there’s no way a Zoom call can replace sitting in a real office with someone who actually cares.” But honestly? My experience with Mindcore MH has been the warmest, most human mental-health care I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried a lot. From the moment you log in, it doesn’t feel like a sterile telehealth portal. Your here psychiatrist is right there, camera on, eye contact, leaning in, remembering the little details you mentioned last month. They give you a full 45–60 minutes (not the usual 15-minute med check), there’s zero clock-watching, and they actually smile and laugh with you when something’s funny. I’ve literally cried, ugly-cried, on camera and never once felt judged; only held.

I totally get why you’d feel that way — online therapy can seem like it would be distant or emotionally flat, especially if you’ve never tried it before. But a lot of people are surprised by how personal it actually becomes once you find the right provider. The connection really depends more on the therapist than the format. A good one will make eye contact, listen carefully, remember details, and create a sense of safety even through a screen.
It’s similar to how some services — even things like Solarium Tanning — can feel cold or impersonal until you find a place that genuinely understands your needs. The right professional makes the experience warm, human, and supportive.
Don’t write off online therapy until you try one or two sessions. You might be surprised by how real the connection feels.
