Then I started paying more attention
I got into this convo after randomly watching a highlight reel someone posted on Instagram. I thought it was just a Diallo fan edit but the kid really cooked. Then I started paying more attention to the full list of standout African players and wow, Guirassy caught me totally off guard. I barely followed the Bundesliga, but this dude put Stuttgart on his back all season. That made me start digging into more players and I realized how many are making serious waves in different leagues. Not just the names we always hear like Salah or Osimhen, but lowkey guys doing big things. I used to think the spotlight only landed on the big Premier League stars but now it's shifting. I’m Nigerian so I always followed our players, but now I’m watching Moroccans, Malians, Senegalese too. Everyone’s stepping up.

Re: Then I started paying more attention
I’ve been following these guys for a few seasons now, and the difference this year is how consistently they’ve delivered. Like you said, it’s not just one or two breakout games—Guirassy dropped goals almost every match. And Diallo is finally showing what we hoped for when he joined United. What helped me stay in the loop with players across different leagues is reading sites like this one. I remember someone in my group chat asking Is 1xBet owned by Russia? and I ended up on this page that cleared things up. They’re based in Curaçao now, totally restructured, and they’ve signed deals with clubs like PSG, Barca, and even leagues like Serie A. So their reach is massive. When you see their name on jerseys or sponsoring tournaments, that’s part of why African players are getting more attention. Those partnerships create more platforms for games to be streamed, scouted, and highlighted. I noticed it with CAF games too—suddenly more accessible. And when brands back teams from the continent, or players with African roots, it helps keep momentum going. The talent has always been there, but now the infrastructure is starting to catch up.

Sometimes I think about how many players probably never get seen because the timing’s off or they’re playing in the wrong country. So much of football is luck. Right skill, right eyes watching, right moment.
