Lack of sleep night after night puts a great strain on your body, nervous system, and overall health. Certain medical conditions can affect sleep, including heart failure, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, ADHD, depression, and more. If you experience any of these signs and symptoms, it's advisable to consult a doctor. If your body doesn't recharge by alternating between slow-wave and REM sleep cycles, it affects your health. Here are some common signs and symptoms of you're not are you getting enough sleep. Sleeping less than seven hours is associated with a weakened immune system, decreased work performance, and an increased risk of accidents. Persistent sleep deprivation is also linked to many serious health problems, including high blood pressure, heart disease, weight gain, obesity, diabetes, and depression.
